Business School
The two-year business school teaches basic business skills and broadens students’ general knowledge, which is a prerequisite for attending secondary schools.
General Information
The two-year business school (vocational school) aims to provide talented and motivated young people with a pathway to higher educational qualifications and a head start in their professional careers in the fields of business and administration. Students receive a solid general education combined with in-depth knowledge of the business world. Practical application is comprehensively fostered through active participation in the operation of a training firm and through hands-on experience. The school offers a broad educational foundation, thereby meeting expectations for greater specialization on the one hand and for increased mobility and adaptability on the other, without providing only one-sided specialized training.
Admission Requirements
The requirement for admission to the vocational school is:
- A secondary school diploma or a certificate of completion from the vocational orientation year
- The report card indicating promotion to 10th grade at a Realschule or Hauptschule, or to 9th grade at an eight-year Gymnasium
- A graduation certificate from the 9th grade of a Realschule or the 8th grade of an eight-year Gymnasium, provided that an average grade of 4.0 has been achieved in German, English, and mathematics, and no more than one of these subjects may have been graded “unsatisfactory.”
If the number of applicants who meet the admission requirements exceeds the school’s capacity, a selection process will take place.
Applications received after the respective application deadline can only be considered in chronological order after all applications received on time have been processed.
Admission is initially on a probationary basis. The class conference
decides whether the probationary period has been successfully completed based on the grades from the midyear report card
.
Educational Qualifications
At the end of the 2nd grade at the vocational school, a final exam is administered. It consists of a written and an oral portion. Upon passing the exam, the student receives a vocational school graduation certificate. With this, the student has:
- The Fachschulreife is an educational qualification equivalent to the Realschulabschluss.
- A good general education and a thorough understanding of economics.
Career Opportunities
- Immediate employment in administration and business. Unless an apprenticeship agreement is entered into, there is no obligation to attend vocational school after graduating from business school.
- Qualified training in an apprenticeship-based occupation: in local, state, and federal agencies in the mid-level administrative service (civil service career path)
- It also serves as the foundation for all careers that build on the “mittlere Reife” or “Fachschulreife” diplomas
- Pursuing a higher educational qualification: Vocational College Entrance Qualification after 2 years (vocational college)
- The option to pursue a degree at universities of applied sciences;
- General university entrance qualification upon completion of 10th grade (vocational high school, e.g., business high school), allowing students to pursue any field of study at any university
This educational qualification opens the door to a wide range of additional career opportunities. Our school and the career counseling offices at the employment agencies will be happy to provide more information.
