Our School

Quality Improvement

Basic Principles

For the past ten years, KSM has been engaged in a continuous development process aimed at systematically improving the quality of our school and regularly assessing its effectiveness. School development is embedded in Baden-Württemberg’s “Operationally Autonomous School” (OES) concept, which focuses on three core areas:

  1. The school’s primary responsibility for educational and academic matters
  2. Personal Responsibility in Business Management
  3. Systematic Quality Improvement, Accountability, and Performance Monitoring

Konzept OES

This model has significantly expanded the autonomy of individual vocational schools. For example, at KSM, teachers and school administrators take responsibility for the quality of the school and its instruction, and involve their students in the school’s ongoing development. They regularly solicit feedback from the young people in their care and use this feedback to develop pedagogical and didactic strategies. For more information, visit https://www.schule-bw.de/schularten/berufliche_schulen/oes/konzeptOES/konzeptOES.htm.

The KSM also demonstrates greater autonomy in teacher recruitment and the organization of instruction. This autonomy is closely intertwined with the obligation to monitor performance and be accountable to the school supervisory authority.

As part of our commitment to quality improvement, it is important to us that both students and teachers feel comfortable at our school and are recognized as individuals. Our school community also includes parents and the businesses with which we work closely.

History

KSM has systematically evolved in recent years, achieving the following “milestones” in the process:

  • Establishment of the Quality Manual as an information platform (2013 onward)
  • Further Development of the Feedback Culture (2013–present)
